Faustino Bernadett, M.D., Sr. was born to immigrant parents from Chihuahua, Mexico, and grew up in Michigan, where he developed a strong sense of service. His journey eventually took him to Chico, California, where he became the only Spanish-speaking family doctor in the community, making a lasting impact on countless lives. In honor of his legacy, his son, Tino Bernadett, is proud to establish the Faustino Bernadett, M.D., Sr. Scholarship at UCSF to support Spanish-speaking medical students. This scholarship, known as the Faustino Bernadett Sr. MD Scholarship Fund, aims to assist medical and undergraduate students with demonstrated leadership abilities.
Faustino "Tino" Bernadett invites you to contribute to this scholarship, which embodies the values his father represented and has the potential to inspire future generations of dedicated physicians. His father's life was marked by service to both local and international communities. He volunteered in Vietnam, providing medical care to those caught in the crossfire, and made annual trips to a remote village in Mexico to treat patients who seldom had access to a doctor. His commitment transcended borders, enriching the lives of those he served, and he was also a devoted teacher, mentoring family medicine residents and students at UC Davis for many years.
As alumni, Dr Faustino Bernadett and Faustino Bernadett, M.D., Sr. have dedicated their lives to making a positive impact in the communities they served. Now is the time to give back and support the next generation of physicians who will navigate an increasingly diverse population. With the rising cost of medical education, scholarships like this one play a crucial role in changing students’ lives.
Dr. Bernadett gave a touching speech at the Clínica Tepati 50th Benefit Banquet on Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Davis, California. At the event, he was recognized as an Early Founder of Clínica Tepati and accepted a plaque honoring his father, Faustino Bernadett, M.D., a respected physician.
